Period-Inclusive Swim Campaign
The inclusive swimwear rule swimmers should know
Swimming Australia’s Inclusive Swimwear Policy allows swimmers to request modified or alternative swimwear. Approval must come from the Technical Manager or Meet Referee before the swimmer’s first event.
This matters because practical swimwear choice can remove one more barrier to participation.
Why this campaign exists
Swimming Australia announced Eltee Sydney as its period-safe swim underwear partner in April 2025. The partnership addresses a simple problem: periods and leakage anxiety still push girls and women out of swimming.
Eltee’s survey of more than 2,300 Australian girls found 67.6% had quit or avoided swimming because of period-management challenges.
Share a real swimming story
We’re collecting stories from swimmers, parents and coaches about the practical impact of periods in the pool. Selected contributors may be invited to share a short video, photo and written account.
No polished script. No campaign voice. Just the useful truth.
Performance period swimwear
UnderSwim is designed to be worn under regular swimwear for training, race days and active time around water.
