Period Swimwear for Para and Multi-Class Swimmers
Multi-class swimmers train hard, compete seriously, and deal with a lot. Periods shouldn't be one more thing to manage. UnderSwim™ is period-safe swim underwear that goes under your suit, built for real competition and designed to stay put.
TWO THINGS AT ONCE.
NEITHER ONE OPTIONAL.
Para swimmers and MC swimmers manage classifications, adaptations, and equipment before they reach the blocks. Period management deserves a practical answer, not a workaround.
Competing With a Classification
Multi-class swimmers navigate equipment, starting adaptations, and physical differences as standard. Period planning is one thing that can genuinely be made easier with the right product.
Protection That Works in the Water
Tampons aren't comfortable or practical for everyone. Regular period underwear isn't designed for swimming. UnderSwim™ is made specifically to be worn under swimwear in the pool, for para and MC swimmers at every level.
Race Day Reliability
The last thing any swimmer needs on race day is uncertainty about protection. UnderSwim™ stays secure through starts, turns, and warm-down, without adjustment or second-guessing.
Built for the Pool
Unlike regular period underwear, UnderSwim™ blocks water out and keeps flow contained. It functions in the water the way it's designed to. No improvising. No worrying.
Watch how
the layers
work.
UnderSwim™ OG fits under any swimwear, including tech suits, without adding bulk, changing the silhouette, or showing through the suit.
The sealed lining sits between the absorbent core and the water, so flow gets locked in while chlorine and water stay out. No tampons. No pad-and-pray. No emergency suit peel.
Knowing I'm protected in the water is a massive bonus, especially because not everyone likes wearing tampons or finds them comfortable to use.
OG OR G-FIT
Both work in the water. Both meet competition guidelines. The difference is cut and absorbency level.
UNDERSWIM™ OG
Higher Absorbency · Race-Ready · 3 to 4 Pads
Built for competition days when you need reliable protection and don't want to think about anything except your race. Absorbs the equivalent of 3 to 4 regular pads. Slim enough to go under a tech suit without changing the fit.
- Higher absorbency for meet and training days
- Invisible under race suits and full-bottom swimwear
- Sealed layer blocks water out, locks flow in
- Compliant with competition swimwear guidelines
- Secure through starts, turns, and warm-down
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabric, PFAS-free
UNDERSWIM™ G-FIT
High-Cut · Training Suits · 2 Pads Absorbency
Designed to sit discreetly under high-cut training suits and swimwear styles. The go-to for daily training sessions where comfort and reliability matter as much as protection. Absorbs the equivalent of 2 regular pads.
- High-cut profile for training suit fits
- Works under Jolyn, Arena, TYR, Engine and similar brands
- Same water-resistant protection as OG
- Stays put from warm-up to warm-down
- Seamless edges, invisible under swimwear
- OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified fabric, PFAS-free
SIMPLE. THAT'S THE POINT.
No tampons required. No poolside conversations. Put it on and swim.
PUT IT ON UNDER YOUR SUIT
UnderSwim™ goes on first, then your swimsuit over the top. No tucking, no adjustments, no fuss. Position the waistband high on the hips for the right fit and silhouette.
SWIM. COMPETE. REPEAT.
The water-resistant layer prevents pool water from saturating the absorbent core. Flow gets managed in and out of the water. Works across training sessions and competition days for para and multi-class swimmers alike.
RINSE AND WASH
Rinse in cold water straight after your session to protect the waterproof coating, then machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Air dry only. Ready for the next one.
THE BARRIERS ARE STACKED HIGHER.
For swimmers with disability, period management comes with an extra layer of difficulty. Physical access, dexterity, unfamiliar products, and inadequate facilities can turn something already manageable into something that stops girls from showing up at all. UnderSwim™ is one thing that genuinely makes it easier.
Dexterity and Physical Access
Swimmers with upper limb differences or limited fine motor control may find tampons and menstrual cups difficult or impossible to use independently. Many traditional period products require two hands, good grip, and a degree of precision that isn't always available.
Inaccessible Changerooms
Many aquatic facilities still have changerooms that aren't accessible or private enough to manage period products mid-session. For swimmers who can't easily access a suitable bathroom, the option to avoid changing entirely is a genuine advantage.
Intellectual and Cognitive Barriers
Swimmers with intellectual disability may need support from carers to manage their period. Learning a new product type can be distressing. The simpler and more familiar the product, the easier it is to manage independently or with minimal help.
Safety and Wear Time
When changing isn't easy due to cost or access, some athletes resort to wearing period products for longer than is safe. Wearing products beyond recommended limits increases health risks, but sometimes feels like the only option.
Leakage Anxiety at Competition
Fear of leaking in the water is a major reason swimmers avoid training or pull out of competition. For para swimmers who already manage significant logistical complexity on race day, that fear adds another layer of stress they shouldn't have to carry.
Lack of Support and Awareness
Many swimmers receive little to no support around period management from coaches. Research by Victoria University found that social taboo and a lack of open dialogue, particularly with male coaches, leaves swimmers managing alone and often silently.
NDIS funding: Accessing menstrual products through NDIS funding can be an option for eligible swimmers, supporting independent period management. If you are an NDIS participant or support a swimmer who is, speak with your plan manager or support coordinator about whether period products may be covered as part of your plan.
WHAT IS MULTI-CLASS SWIMMING?
Multi-class swimming is the competition structure for swimmers with a disability in Australia. Swimmers are assessed and classified according to the impact of their impairment on their ability to compete, then grouped into classes so racing is fair.
Classifications cover physical, vision, intellectual, and hearing impairments. MC events use a points system based on each swimmer's classification, comparing their time to the world record for their class and event. The first person to touch the wall isn't automatically the winner.
Para swimmers compete at every level, from local club meets through state and national championships to the Paralympics. The same grit. The same training load. The same need for period protection that actually works in the water.
FAIR COMPETITION. REAL ATHLETES.
Multi-class swimmers are grouped by classification so competition is equitable at every level, from grassroots club swimming to international Paralympic competition.
Whether competing at a local carnival or chasing national selection, MC swimmers face the same competition pressures as any serious athlete. Gear, preparation, recovery. And yes, managing periods.
Multi-class results use the Multi-Class Point Score system, comparing swim times against the world record for each classification. Every tenth counts.
